InterManager is pleased to support a new award scheme which is set to recognise diversity and inclusion in the maritime sector and encourage new people into its workforce.
Honours for Diversity and Inclusion in Maritime is organised by WISTA Belgium with the support of the European Commission’s Women in Transport Platform and the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, supported by a number of industry stakeholders including InterManager.
The awards, which have been welcomed by the International Maritime Organization, will be presented during a ceremony at the prestigious Egmont Palace in Brussels on International Women’s Day (8 March 2024).
Nominations are now open and InterManager is urging its members and shipping industry colleagues to take part. The categories are:
• Best improvement of diversity and inclusion in the workplace
• Best initiative against harassment
• Best new initiative
Applications are welcome from organisations and companies from the European and international maritime transport sectors. The closing date is January 26th.
InterManager Secretary General, Capt Kuba Szymanski, said: “These awards will complement other maritime efforts to improve diversity and inclusion in the global shipping industry. By celebrating what is being achieved and recognising successful new initiatives we will be able to identify what actions are helping the maritime industry to make progress as we evolve into an industry which provides attractive and meaningful employment for future generations.”
