SMART Steps In With Communication Assistance

In response to InterManager’s appeal to members to help provide assistance to Filipino seafarers affected by Typhoon Haiyan, Smart Satellite Services, an Associate member, has set up a dedicated hotline number which seafarers can call to communicate with their family and friends in affected areas.

This hotline number will be moved periodically and stationed for two to three days at a time in the different municipalities of the Central Visayas region.

Using a SMART Link terminal, seafarers can call the designated hotline number that will connect them directly to the disaster-stricken areas. A designated operator will receive the calls and messages.

Seafarers may leave messages for family, relatives or loved ones who are in the pre-determined area. These messages will be posted on a “PAMILYANG MARINO” public message board visible to everyone in the area.

SEAFARERS ARE ADVISED that on November 25, 2013, the hotline number below will be in the area of TANAUAN, LEYTE. Calls will be received from 05:00H GMT until 09:00H GMT.

Regular satellite rates apply at PhP77.00 per minute.
