1. MABUX: Bunker prices may demonstrate slight multidirectional changes on Dec

As of Dec. 10, a correlation of MABUX MBP Index (Market Bunker Prices) vs MABUX DBP Index (Digital Bunker Prices Benchmark) in four largest global hubs showed that 380 HSFO fuel grade was undervalued in two out of all four selected ports: in Rotterdam – minus $4 (no changes), in Singapore – minus $11 (minus $15 the day before). In Fujairah MBP Index 100% correlated to DBP Index (minus $2 the day before). In Houston this fuel grade was overcharged by – plus $6 (plus $5 the day before). 2. Baltic Dry Index as of Dec 10

BDI is a number issued daily by the London-based Baltic Exchange. Not restricted to Baltic Sea countries, the index provides “an assessment of the price of moving the major raw materials by sea. 3. Four breakthrough innovations challenge for first ever Nor-Shipping Ocean Solutions Award

Nor-Shipping has announced that Daphne Technology, Jotun, HASYTEC Group Germany/ Alesund Maritime, and Wavefoil have seen off a fierce competing field to make it to the shortlist of the inaugural Ocean Solutions Award. Launched to celebrate breakthrough innovations at, or approaching, the commercialisation stage, the accolade attracted an extensive spectrum of nominations from Nor-Shipping participants. 4. Eagle LNG sign Aruba supply agreement

Eagle LNG Partners LLC, a US company based in Houston, Texas and Jacksonville, Florida, has completed a long-term supply contract to establish a liquefied natural gas receiving and regasification terminal in Aruba with WEB Aruba, the local power and water utility. The project confirms Aruba’s growing importance as a regional hub and creates new economic pillars. 5. Nor-Shipping postponed over Omicron fears

The ski goggles can be taken out of the suitcase – next month’s rescheduled Nor-Shipping has just been postponed, with organisers citing spiralling cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19. 6. Two missing after Danish cargo ship capsizes in Baltic Sea collision

7. Container collapse accident off Alexandria

Stormy conditions last Wednesday off the Egyptian port of Alexandria saw a boxship lose three containers overboard and another slew of boxes become dislodged and damaged during transit. The 2000-built, 3,013 teu Wadi Alrayan was hit by large waves last Wednesday evening. 8. MV Almirante Storni Arrives at Dock With Timber Fire Under Control

The Swedish Coast Guard has stood down the federal response to the fire on board the MV Almirante Storni near Gothenburg, Sweden after a week of firefighting. After a week burning at anchor near the island of Vinga, the ship arrived at a berth in Gothenburg under its own power on Saturday morning with the fire mostly controlled but thermal imaging still showing some hot spots. As of Monday, the Greater Gothenburg Rescue Service has taken over the response.

9. LNG Shipping Rates Ease But Market Vulnerable To Asian Winter Demand

Asia-Pacific LNG shipping rates have eased from record highs as Asian spot LNG demand has softened due to moderate weather, healthy inventories at North Asian terminals and high spot prices that are keeping most end-users on the sidelines. The S&P Global Platts LNG shipping rates fell to $285,000/day from a record high $320,000/day at end-November, while the Atlantic rate fell to $240,000/day from $260,000/day.
