This year members have the added bonus of attending an influential shipping industry conference the day after the AGM – for a special reduced price to InterManager members.

The International Shipowning and Shipmanagement Summit (ISSS) is taking place on Tuesday October 14 at the SingTel Comcentre in Exeter Road, Singapore.

Industry developments, international concerns as well as relationships within the shipping industry supply chain will all come under the spotlight as leading ship owners and ship managers join industry specialists representing sectors including ship broking, insurance and chartering for this unique one-day Summit.

Discussion topics include:
• How strong is the relationship between ship owners and third party managers?
• The role of the charterer and the end user, how much do they matter?
• Why owners need to be paid the right amount to do the job
• How sustainable is today’s young professional?
• Why aren’t more choosing a career in the maritime industry – at sea and ashore?
• Investing in a strong management sector – does it have a succession plan?

InterManager President Gerardo Borromeo (Chairman, Philippine Transmarine Carriers) will be speaking at the Summit as will InterManager members Roberto Giorgi (President, V.Ships), Rajaish Bajpaee (Manager, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement), Rob Grool (President – Fleet Management, Seaspan), Nigel Cleave (CEO, Videotel) and Lim Kian Soon (Head of Satellite, Singtel).

Other speakers include: Claes Eek Thorstensen (President, Thome Group); Peter Cremers (CEO, Anglo-Eastern Group); Denis Petropoulos (Executive Director, Braemar Shipping Services); Esben Poulsson (Singapore Shipowners’ Association) and Birgitt Lioden (Secretary-General, YoungShip).

The one-day Summit will conclude with a cocktail reception for all participants. InterManager members can reserve their delegate pass for the special rate of $395. To book please email: [email protected]

New Issue No. 4 JULY 2014 of our BI-MONTHLY Magazine “DISPATCH” is now available from: http://www.intermanager.org/resources/dispatch/
…….. ……………

Following last year’s successful day which raised over £1,800 for the King George V Fund for Sailors, the event will be repeated this year on Friday 29 August, in association with the Isle of Man Shipping Association. InterManager has entered a team which comprises four members with the highest 2 scores at each hole to count in a Stableford format. The team captain, Paddy McKnight is seeking 3 other golfers to join him in making up the InterManager team for this Charity event. Tee-off at Rowany will be at 1330, (no doubt a shot-gun start) followed afterwards by a hot buffet, raffle and presentations in the clubhouse. The leisurely afternoon tee-off time will enable participants to arrive in the IOM in the morning, and if so desired, fly out in the evening.
It would be good for InterManager to put up a strong showing and volunteers to join the team should contact the S-G, Kuba or Paddy. Meanwhile, happy golfing.

The book covers the essentials of shipping, taking the reader through manning, safety, training, navigation and communications. It covers classification and insurance, international conventions and maritime law, and it looks at ports, workboats, cranes and dry docks, as well as pilots and agents.
Author Nigel Draffin, has been involved in shipping for almost 50 years and with the commercial bunker market for over 25 years.
