OIL AND GAS INFRASTRUCTURE DISRUPTION

 

Event: Force Majeure

 

Date and Time: 22 November 2020

 

Location: Ikarama Community, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria (approx. 05°09’16"N, 06°27’11”E)

 

Description: Eni have declared force majeure on exports of Nigerian Brass River crude oil following explosions at Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) and Shell Petroleum
Development Company (SPDC) sites in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The explosions were on a NAOC crude line and SPDC gas line. Some reports have stated that the facilities were “attacked” however this is yet to be confirmed.

 

UPDATE 1: NAOC have declared force majeure on exports from Brass terminal, reducing crude export by 30,000 barrels per day. Investigators have stated that the explosions on the pipelines were caused by “vandals”. So far, no group has
claimed responsibility for the incidents which took place during the night of Friday 20
November. NAOC expect full production to be resumed in one week.
