THREAT AGAINST OIL & GAS

Location: Niger Delta, Nigeria
Description: A group calling itself the “Continuous Emancipation of Niger Delta”
(CEND) has claimed responsibility for the explosions on the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) pipelines earlier this week, which leads to NAOC/Agip declaring force majeure on Brass crude exports.
CEND claims it is a coalition of 36 militant groups, a number of which are already known. In its statement included the following demands:

Relocation of the headquarters of all oil and gas companies operating in the Niger Delta

Payment of 13% derivation to oil and gas producing communities

Demilitarization of the Niger Delta region
-
Repositioning of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).
The following threats were made:

“In the coming days, there will be a series of attacks on major oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta”.

“We want to warn all foreign nationals that this is the time to leave the Niger Delta region”.

“Al (sic) foreign embassies should as a matter of urgency evacuate their citizens”.
