OSM Thome taps Odfjell Technology for Equinor FSU modification work

Odfjell Technology, a spinoff of Odfjell Drilling that specialises in offshore operations, has been awarded a contract from OSM Thome to provide upgrade and modification services on the Equinor-owned Heidrun B FSU.

Odfjell Technology will provide engineering, construction, and installation services on several tasks, including a new volatile organic compounds recovery system and replacement of an existing crane. Work on the project has already started and will be completed in the first quarter of 2027. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

“Thanks to our versatile workforce, we can successfully undertake a comprehensive range of 21 tasks within this specific scope of work,” said Anne Siri Sévareid, EVP of projects and engineering at Odfjell Technology.

As for Heidrun B, it is a floating storage unit operating at the Heidrun field at the Halten bank off the coast of mid-Norway. The vessel was delivered from Samsung Heavy Industries Korea and set in operation in 2015.

OSM Thome has been responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the vessel, as well as technical integrity since June 2022. The company is also the technical authority in charge of ensuring the unit’s technical integrity.

This is the second contract announcement from Odfjell Technology in as many days. On Wednesday, the company said that it signed a contract with Repsol Norge for drilling services on the Yme Inspirer jack-up rig.
