InterManager joins the global shipping community in wholeheartedly condemning attacks on international merchant ships in the Red Sea area.
As the IMO Secretary General, Kitack Lim, commented: “Attacks against international shipping in the Red Sea area are not acceptable. Ships must be allowed to trade worldwide unhindered, in accordance with international maritime law.”
InterManager members employ more than a quarter of million seafarers and they must be allowed to go about their business without fear or risk.
We advise our members to exercise extreme caution when sailing in the Red Sea and welcome the support of international navies in providing security to vessels in this area.
