1. Jan De Nul launched new water injection dredger Cosette in the Netherlands

Jan De Nul Group and the shipyard Neptune Marine near Dordrecht in the Netherlands, launched the new water injection dredger Cosette. The godmother of the vessel is the four-year-old Cosette Goethals, daughter of Julie De Nul and granddaughter of ir. J.P.J. De Nul. 3. Off specification and non compliant fuels can cost ship operators as much as 50,000 per incident

4. Disposal of marine pyrotechnics from the pleasure vessel sector to change

New arrangements for disposing of redundant marine pyrotechnics, known as flares, are being rolled out by the pleasure vessel industry.

This will replace the voluntary and temporary scheme which Her Majesty’s Coastguard has been providing since 2010 from 17 of its stations and the RNLI at its headquarters in Poole, Dorset.

5. Sempra Infrastructure gets extension to build Texas Port Arthur LNG export plant

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved a request from Sempra Infrastructure for an extension to complete construction of a Port Arthur, Texas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant and pipelines. 6. Furetank sells tanker pair to Neste

Swedish shipowner Furetank has agreed to sell two of its dual-fuel product tankers to Finnish oil refiner Neste. No price has been revealed for the 2018-built Fure Valo and 2019-built Fure Ven, VesselsValue estimates as worth $60.3m combined. Over the past two centuries, established populations of nearly 190 non-native species of invertebrates, fishes, plants and microbes have been discovered in the Great Lakes basin. 9. Two electric tugboats ordered for Canadian towage

Sanmar Shipyards joined forces with naval architects Robert Allan Ltd (RAL) to develop and custom-build two electric-powered tugs for SAAM Towage’s harbour operations These are the first of a new generation of environmentally friendly emissions-free tugboats, based on the exclusive-to-Sanmar ElectRA 2300SX design from RAL. 10. Baltic index posts worst day in a month as vessel demand wanes

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk sea freight index (.BADI) fell for the sixth consecutive session on Thursday to mark its worst day since mid-September, as rates slipped across all vessel segments.
