Dispatches No. 488

Dear Members,

24,758 seafarers have travelled as reported by the Maritime Champions Club since 23 March 2020. That means that you have successfully travelled nearly 5,000 seafarers in the last 7 days.

https://www.intermanager.org/maritime-champions/

We urge and implore our members, friends, and potential friends to join us to show where crew changes are happening, and how many seafarers have been able to repatriate.

These figures are important:

– to see the scale of the undertaking,

– to boost the confidence of seafarers,

– to help crew managers to see where crew changes are possible,

– to recognise hard work and effort

– to assist journalists who report on the issue

Pooling Resources for Crew Changes – message No. 20

Dear Members,

The Maritime Champions Club is reporting that 25,000 crew members have currently travelled, but the number of crew to be repatriated is going to reach 200,000 (400,000 both ways), and I am therefore becoming seriously concerned.

15 June is also the ITF deadline for seafarers’ contract extension: is there anything that members would like us to do?

Aa/ We urgently need advice on crew changes in Australia, please. Who was your agent and how did you manage it? Members with positive experiences, please get in touch.

Bb/ Please find attached advice from the Cyprus Chamber of Shipping’s circular regarding COVID-19.

Cc/ Singapore is relaxing crew change restrictions even further.

Would you be interested in the Grey Wing proposal?

I hope you’re well and will join me in a canoe or on a trek, maybe?
