3D Visual Reconstructs Tokyo Cargo Ship Collision

Marine technology provider SRT Marine Technology has developed a 3D visual to assist with understanding the cargo ship collision just outside Tokyo Bay in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

SRT Marine Technology’s visual remade the accident based on the AIS data of the two ships. It showed that Panama-flagged Beagle III, en route out of the mouth of Tokyo Bay, crashed into another vessel, the South Korean-registered Pegasus Prime, causing it to sink.

At present, 12 out of 20 Chinese crew members of Beagle III have been found while eight are still missing. The chief engineer of the ship was found drifting and seriously injured on Tuesday, and died later after he was taken to the nearby Miura City Hospital, the Japan Coast Guard confirmed.

The search for the missing is still under way, and no clues have been found yet.
