Description: MDAT-GoG has issued a report stating that a vessel is under attack deep offshore Nigeria. No further information released yet.
This attack is in the same area as the incident on Christmas Eve 24 December 2019 against a tanker. That attack was unsuccessful due to evasive manoeuvres carried out
by the tanker. These attacks are taking place in the Nigeria-Sao Tome Joint Development Zone, out of the official reach of Nigerian maritime security.
UPDATE: Latest information is that the vessel, which was sailing from Douala, Cameroon to Greenville, Liberia, has been boarded by about 3 pirates. Some of the crew have mustered
onboard.
Further information to follow when received.
