PROPOSED COMMUNITY ACTION EVENT

Event: Community Action Threat

Date and Time: Tuesday, 27
August 2019

Location: Niger Delta, Nigeria

Description: Youth groups under the
Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Nigeria government to give them pipeline surveillance jobs in the Niger Delta region, stating that if the government did not, then they “may be forced to take
some decisive actions”. This was supported by HOSTCOM National Chairman, Bishop Mike Emuh, who stated that they support President Buhari but that their “concern is that he has not kept to his promise to engage our youths to handle the oil pipeline surveillance
