2. Jebsen Shipping orders up to 12 MPPs at Dajin Heavy
Chinese yard Dajin Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of Shanghai Bestway, has announced that it has entered into shipbuiding contracts with German company ESTE Verwaltungs for the construction of up to twelve 5,200 dwt multi-purpose cargo vessels. 4. Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Demetriades to reassess situation after tender for Cyprus-Greece ferry link fails to attract proposals
The maritime connection between Cyprus and Greece has been inactive since 2000. The Deputy Ministry sought to revive the connection with a €5 million pen annum of state subsidy approved by the EU’s DG Competition. However, the tender for proposals ended on Friday without attracting any binding offers. 5. China buys ‘scale-busting’ record volumes of American corn
Arrow Research has published “scale-busting” charts detailing Chinese purchases of American corn over the past week.

6. Evergreen goes on 20 mega boxship order spree

7. World’s first ‘carbon-neutral oil’ shipped to India
On January 28, 2m barrels of oil was delivered by Pantheon’s Sea Pearl VLCC to Reliance Industries in India. 9. Eagle Bulk Ship Escapes Pirate Attack in Gulf of Guinea
A bulk carrier belonging to NASDAQ-listed Eagle Bulk Shipping is reported safe and its crew unharmed after a pirate attack in the Gulf of Guinea. The incident was confirmed Monday by Eagle Bulk Shipping in a tweet informing that its owned Ultramax bulker carrier Rowayton Eagle was hijacked about 240 miles southeast of Lagos, Nigeria.
