Global Survival Technology solutions provider Survitec aims to substantially improve onboard ship safety with a new interactive safety management solution. The solution, a Safety Management and Rapid Response Technology Interface , uses a graphical monitoring interface to integrate fire detection and fire suppression systems within one system. 5. Kongsberg Maritime to provide design and technology for new tugboats to help secure the Suez Canal. Kongsberg Maritime has won a contract to provide the design and equipment for two powerful salvage tugs being built by Alexandria Shipyard as main contractor on behalf of the Suez Canal Authority. 7. Shipping will have to contend with the onset of El Niño weather phenomenon. 8. PMA Says US West Coast Port Workers Shut Down Port of Seattle; Workers’ Union Denies Claim. 9. Chinese Naval Training Ship Heads For Philippines In ‘Friendly’ Tour. China’s largest naval training ship sailed for the Philippines on Friday, its last stop of a regional “friendly” tour, amid growing unease over Chinese maritime activities in the South China Sea. 10. Larger vessel gains help Baltic index to post best week in 3 months.
