1. Klaveness on course to introduce a new generation of low carbon, zero-emission fuel prepared, CABU vessels. A subsidiary of Klaveness Combination Carriers has entered into a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co. Ltd (“YZJ”) for construction of three third generation (“CABU III”) vessels for delivery in the period Q1-Q3 2026. 2. New chairman at Danish Shipping. 3. Shipbuilding – Ship prices rising on energy transition and stricter regulations. Investment points for the shipbuilding sectors include: 1) rising newbuilding prices; and 2) order backlog growth (sales basis). In 2023, a slot shortage is likely to result in a decline in absolute order volume at domestic shipbuilders, but it should also lead to price hikes. Newbuilding prices should continue to rise after 2023, led by LNG carriers. 4. Neptune Energy starts gas production at Adorf Z17 well Germany. 5. Global container production to slump to 14-year low. Drewry estimates that global box production contracted 71% YoY to 306,000 teu in the first quarter of 2023, the lowest level since the same period of 2010. 6. ICS calls on governments to set the course towards a net zero future in July. The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) has submitted detailed well-thought through proposals to the next round of IMO negotiations. 7. Ship grounded in Egypt’s Suez Canal, refloat attempts on: Leth Agencies. A ship has grounded in the Suez Canal, “leaving behind” at least four vessels, shipping agent Leth Agencies said early on Thursday.

8. Ministry and sea ports move to expand shore power. The Ministry of Infrastructure is allocating €140 million over the next few years to help realise shore power plants in sea ports. A further €40 million will be added from the climate fund. 9. Bollinger Launches Navajo-Class Salvage Ship for U.S. Navy. Bollinger Shipyards has launched the lead ship in the U.S. Navy’s new Navajo-Class Towing, Salvage and Rescue Ships (T-ATS).The launch took place last week at Bollinger’s Houma Shipyard in Louisiana.The Navajo-class will focus on long-range towing, rescue, and salvage missions for the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command, as well as humanitarian assistance, search and rescue, and oil spill response. 10. Fish Farm Support Vessel Completes Complex Autonomous Voyage in Norway. A fish farm support vessel has successfully completed what is said to be one of the most complex autonomous maritime voyages ever conducted off the coast of Norway.Technology group Kongsberg Maritime led the test by demonstrating various remote and autonomous technologies aboard the Eidsvaag Pioner, a 2013-built cargo ship owned by Eidsvaag AS and used to supply fish feed to offshore fish farms along the Norwegian coast. https://gcaptain.com/fish-farm-support-vessel-completes-complex-autonomous-voyage-in-norway/
