2. Interorient Shipmanagement introduces the “Mental Fitness Gym” in collaboration with Impact Wellbeing
Interorient Shipmanagement have taken positive steps towards crew wellbeing by introducing the “Mental Fitness Gym”, a product of Impact Wellbeing, across their fleet of full technical managed vessels following a successful trial on some of their managed vessels.

3. Cyprus ship management revenue rises to 4.2% GDP
Cyprus ship management revenues increased to €516 mln during the second half of 2021, or 4.2% of GDP (as turnover), marking a steady recovery from the pandemic and associated decline in economic activity, according to a Central Bank survey.
An increase of 15.4% from the first six months of 2021 generated €447 mln (4% GDP).

4. Invest in a greener and more inclusive human-centred recovery ILO tells World Bank and IMF
In statements to the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group, ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, emphasized the urgency of fostering a human-centred recovery amid a fragile outlook for 2022.
ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, has called for urgent action to create decent work in the green, care and digital economies to contribute to a just transition to carbon neutral economies and to prevent inequalities from becoming entrenched.

5. Adani Ports snaps up India’s largest marine services firm Ocean Sparkle
India’s largest private ports and logistics company, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has, through its subsidiary The Adani Harbour Services, struck a deal to acquire leading compatriot third-party marine services provider Ocean Sparkle Limited (OSL) for Rs 1530 crore ($200.6m).

6. Ever Forward deemed seaworthy, owner questions $100m demand
After being towed to anchorage on Sunday, the Ever Forward has been examined and found to be undamaged by its month in the mud of Chesapeake Bay. However, the damage the ship might or might not have caused to the local environment looks set to be a matter for the lawyers.

7. WATCH An American Ship Get Locked Down In China
In November American Merchant Marine officer Madeleine Wolczko left her island home and took a Washington State Ferry to Seattle then caught a flight south to Oakland, California where she began looking for a ship. She found a ship but could not have anticipated that six months later she would be stuck in China’s massive COVID Lockdown.

8. Japan’s Coast Guard Intensifies Search For Missing Tour Boat
Ten people found so far from a Japanese tour boat missing off the country’s northern coast have been confirmed dead, the coast guard said on Sunday.
The boat went missing on Saturday with 26 people on board during a cruise off the main northern island of Hokkaido. Of the 10, seven were men and three were women, the coast guard said in a bulletin.

9. New US sanctions against Russia to include port ban
President Biden’s move follows that of European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen who announced a port ban on Russian vessels citing ’atrocities’ of Russian war in Ukraine.
“Today, I’m announcing the United States will ban Russia-affiliated ships from our ports, as they did in Europe,” President Biden said in remarks following his meeting wiith the Ukrainian Prime Minister.

10. Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone Signs Deals For Green Energy
Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone signed an agreement worth $3 billion to produce up to 350,000 tonnes of green energy for fueling ships in Ain Sokhna with a consortium that includes EDF Renewables and the Egyptian sovereign wealth fund, the cabinet said on Wednesday.
