Event: Wellhead Leak and Shutdown

Location: Well 1, Southern Barbara Field, OML29, near
Opu Nembe Community, Nembe LGA, Bayelsa State, Nigeria
Description: A major oil spill from a well head in OML29, operated by Aiteo, has been ongoing since 5 November 2021. Aiteo have stated that “magnitude
of this incident is of an extremely high order. Immediate efforts to control the leak were aborted due to the high pressure emanating from the well head”. On 23 Novemeber 2021 the Nigerian Federal Government order Aiteo to stop operating in the Nembe area
until a full investigation is carried out.
