Description: A containership sailing out from Lagos has come under attack in the Sao Tome EEZ. Crew have reportedly mustered in the citadel. Vessel was sailing at over 16kts and then
increased her speed to over 21kts but then with evasive manoeuvres speed decreased and is now drifting.

 

UPDATE 1: MDAT-GoG have reported that the 4 attackers have left the vessel and incident is over. No report yet received on whether any crew kidnapped.

 

UPDATE 2: It has been confirmed that 15 crew have been kidnapped and 1 crew member killed. The 3 remaining crew onboard are sailing the vessel to a nearby port.

 

UPDATE 3: The owners of the vessel MV MOZART have reported that the 15 crew members have been released following negotiations. The crew members are all in good health and will be repatriated back to Turkey as soon as possible.
