Description: It has been reported that a security escort vessel was attacked whilst on route to meet a client vessel. Attack took place approx. 50nm SW of Bonny. Initial reports are that
2 Navy personnel were killed in the attack, however this is still to be confirmed.

 

UPDATE 1: Following checks with multiple sources in Nigeria, there has been no further detail on the attack or corroboration of the original source. Original source has removed their report as well,
raising possibility that this was a false report. We will continue to investigate and update if further information is received.

 

UPDATE 2: The Nigerian Navy have confirmed in a press release on 26th February 2021 that the report of the escort vessel coming under attack was false. No further information.
