Description: UKMTO has issued an alert stating that a tanker has “experienced an explosion” at Jeddah anchorage, Saudi Arabia. Report is from the Master of the vessel.
UPDATE 1: It has been confirmed by owners that vessel has suffered damage to the hull. There are no reports of any injuries in the crew and fires were extinguished within an hour. UKMTO have reported
that as well as investigations into this incident, there are reports of another incident “in the vicinity of Jeddah Port” but no further details as yet.
UPDATE 2: UKMTO has confirmed that Jeddah port is now open.
