Description: A landing craft vessel sailing northwards up the coast of Gabon was approached by a “unknown supply vessel”. The suspicious vessel had AIS turned off and no navigation lights.
The landing craft changed course and carried out anti-piracy procedures. The suspicious vessel is likely still within the area and the threat to shipping remains.
Analysis: It is possible that the “unknown supply vessel” was the vessel that was chased yesterday by 2 skiffs, as no outcome was reported for that incident.
ARC will update if further information is received.
