Description: Following the approach on a containership 200nm S of Lagos on 20 April 2021, an Italian Naval frigate nearby identified a skiff with ladders onboard. The frigate’s helicopter
followed the skiff which was on a course of 240° at 50kts. Skiff is black/dark in colour, 2 grey outbound engines and a red flag/cloth at the rear of the vessel, with about 8 persons onboard with a ladder.
UPDATE 1: According to reports from naval assets, skiff is reported to have reached Nigerian territorial waters at 04°54’N, 005°26’E, near the entry to the Dodo river.
