Militant Threat / Nigeria 01-110919

THREAT AGAINST OIL COMPANIES

Event: Militant threats

Date and Time: 11 September 2019

Location: Niger Delta Region, Nigeria

Description: The Niger Delta militant group
Reformed Niger Delta Avengers has issued another threat to the Federal Government and oil companies, stating that if the Presidential Amnesty Programme coordinator Professor Charles Dokubo is removed from office by the Nigerian government and replaced,
then it “would lead to collateral damage on all oil facilities and oil installations…We will cripple all the major pipelines in the creeks of Niger Delta.”

The statement was issued by “General” Johnmark Ezonebi, likely an alias, and is the second threat made by the group this month. These threats are almost certainly political
in nature, as the argument continues over the governance of organisations that are involved in the Niger Delta, and how money is allocated to the region.
