Description: The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers has threatened to go on a strike across Nigeria on 26 August 2020 unless 175 members who were sacked under a Chevron
Nigeria Limited (CNL) contract are given their jobs back. Chevron Nigeria Limited has said that as the workers were employed by an independent contractor and were laid off after the service agreement between CNL and the contractor was suspended. CNL stated
that they are engaging with NUPENG, however the union denied this and threatened to go ahead with the strike action.
