INCREASED THREAT TO SHIPPING

 

Event: Report of increased threat to shipping 

 

Date: 25 October 2021

 

Description: MDAT-GoG have reported from a national source that there is an increased threat to shipping of piracy between the following area:

  • 02°30’N, 005°00’E
  • 02°30’N, 007°30’E
  • 00°00’N, 007°30’E
  • 00°00’N, 005°00’E

This area includes the island nation of Sao Tome and Principe, the NW EEZ of Sao Tome and Principe, the southern edge of the Nigerian EEZ and the Nigeria-Sao Tome Joint Development Zone.
All vessels in the area are advise to remain extremely vigilant.
