INCREASED THREAT TO SHIPPING
Event: Report of increased threat to shipping
Date: 20 February 2022
Description: MDAT-GoG have updated that there is an increased threat to shipping of piracy in the following area for the next 48 hours:
- 04°40’N, 001°40’W
- 04°40’N, 005°10’E
- 02°40’N, 005°10’E
- 02°40’N, 001°40’W
This area is centered around the western area of the Nigerian EEZ, the Benin EEZ, the Togo EEZ and the eastern part of the Ghana EEZ until south of Takoradi.
It is recommended that all vessels in the area remain extremely vigilant, heighten security onboard and, if possible, make use of available additional security services.
