INCREASED THREAT TO SHIPPING
Event: Report of increased threat to shipping
Date: 18 January 2022
Description: MDAT-GoG have updated that there is an increased threat to shipping of piracy in the following area for the next 48 hours:
- 05°30’N, 003°50’E
- 05°30’N, 007°15’E
- 02°50’N, 007°15’E
- 02°50’N, 003°50’E
This area is offshore the Niger Delta and within Nigerian waters, and includes the Brass, Escravos, Forcados, Bonga, Agbami and Egina terminals. All vessels in Nigeria waters should be
made aware.
It is recommended that all vessels in the area remain extremely vigilant, heighten security onboard and, if possible, make use of available additional security services.
