INCREASED THREAT TO SHIPPING
Event: Report of increased threat to shipping
Date: 15 January 2022
Description: MDAT-GoG have updated that there is an increased threat to shipping of piracy in the following area for the next 48 hours:
- 05°00’N, 005°00’W
- 05°00’N, 002°30’W
- 02°30’N, 02°30’W
- 02°30’N, 005°00’W
This area is offshore Abidjan, up to 160nm offshore. However, if pirate activity is confirmed and law enforcement enters the area, the pirates may move outside this area, so the threat
is around this general area as well.
It is recommended that all vessels in the area remain extremely vigilant, heighten security onboard and, if possible, make use of available additional security services.
