INCREASED THREAT TO SHIPPING

 

Event: Report of increased threat to shipping 

 

Date: 8 February 2022

 

Description: MDAT-GoG have updated that there is an increased threat to shipping of piracy in the following area for the next 48 hours:

  • 03°15’N, 006°10’E
  • 03°15’N, 008°40’E
  • 01°40’N, 008°40’E
  • 01°40’N, 006°10’E

 

This area is centered around the area south west of Bioko Island, western EEZ of Equatorial Guinea, southern Nigeria EEZ (including Egina terminal) and northern EEZ of Sao Tome and Principe.

 

It is recommended that all vessels in the area remain extremely vigilant, heighten security onboard and, if possible, make use of available additional security services.
