Description: Tanker vessel on route from Lagos to Calabar was approached and boarded by pirates. Alarm was raised via VHF Ch.16, and a security vessel was sent to support. On seeing the security
vessel, the pirates left the merchant vessel and escaped. Vessel and crew all safe.

This attack occurred in the same area as an attack earlier on 27th February 2019, making it likely that it was the same pirate group. There is therefore a continuing threat to vessels
sailing in the area.
