Description: MDAT-GoG have received a report of a possible attack on a tanker offshore Abidjan, Ivory Coast EEZ. According to other reports, ship-owner has had no contact with vessel
since yesterday evening.
UPDATE 1: International Maritime Bureau (IMB) have confirmed that the tanker was hijacked by pirates. Pirates stole cargo and have now departed the vessel. All crew reported as safe. Pirates are
likely using another vessel as mothership and for stolen cargo.
All vessels in the area should
continue to
operate at heightened vigilance as pirates may
carry out additional attacks on vessels in the area.
