Description: MDAT-GoG have reported that a tanker on route from Europe to Qua Iboe was fired on by pirates in a white speed boat deep offshore and just outside of Nigerian EEZ. Tanker
carried out evasive manoeuvres, increased its speed to 14kts and escaped the pirates. MDAT-GoG has reported that vessel and crew are safe.

Due to failure by pirates to successfully attack the vessel, the threat remains in the area, with pirates likely to attempt another attack.
