Location: 5nm North West of Bonny Fairway Buoy, Nigeria
Position: 04°16’49”N, 007°02’34”E
Description: There have been reports of a merchant vessel being attacked by a speed boat with 8 or 10 pirates on board. The armed team on board the merchant vessel fired shots which caused the attackers to
move away.
According to one report, the attackers used the tactic of hiding behind a fishing trawler to come close to the vessel without being noticed. The attack happened in the shipping channel between Bonny Fairway
Buoy and Bonny port.
