Description: 5 armed robbers boarded the vessel and stole personal belongings and ship’s equipment. Vessel and crew reported as unharmed.

 

Robbery incidents at Conakry are often violent and robbers often carry weapons. Crew may be beaten and coerced to give access to locked areas onboard. Conakry law enforcement
can be very slow to respond to incidents in the anchorage, or may not respond at all.

 

Guinea is currently seeing significant unrest on shore due to political issues. Any crew going ashore should avoid public areas with large gatherings of people.
