1. Hanwha Ocean secures 713.5 Bil. Won order for LNG Carriers from Maran Gas. Hanwha Ocean has secured a significant order for two LNG carriers worth 713.5 billion won from Maran Gas Maritime Inc., a subsidiary of Greece’s largest shipping company, the Angelicoussis Group. The announcement was made on Nov. 11, with the vessels scheduled for delivery in 2027. This contract also includes an option for two additional vessels, indicating potential future orders and further strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two companies.

2. MLC Amendments to enter into force on 23 December 2024. To provide further protection to seafarers, it is now a requirement that prior to or in the process of their engagement they are told of their rights under the system of financial protection established by private recruitment and placement agencies to compensate seafarers for monetary losses.

5. Bassadone’s HTM boosts tanker newbuild tally. Hercules Tanker Management (HTM) has moved to further bolster and renew its fleet with up to 10 new vessels.
The John Bassadone-led outfit has returned to Jiangmen Hangtong Shipyard in China for six firm and four optional 7,700 dwt IMO II chemical tanker newbuilds after contracting four ‘ultra-spec’ sister ships at the yard earlier this year.

6. DOF wins IMR vessel deal in APAC region. Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF has won a contract award for an IMR vessel and associated subsea services in the Asia-Pacific region.
The contract will utilise one of DOF’s project vessels in the region and includes project management, engineering, logistics support, and all related subsea activities.

7. Shipyards advance designs as CO2 shipping gains oxygen. The Northern Pioneer is the first is a series of four 7,500 cu m liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) carriers ordered at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) by Northern Lights, a joint venture between Shell, TotalEnergies and Equinor which plans to transport and sequester CO2 in the North Sea.

10. Waltz And Rubio Signal Trump’s Bid to Reassert U.S. Maritime Power. American shipyards, the Merchant Marine, ports, and waterways have undeniably suffered from decades of neglect.
