1. Intership Navigation and Interorient Shipmanagement join forces. Cyprus-based Intership Navigation and Interorient Shipmanagement have merged their shipmanagement activities into InterMaritime Shipmanagement.
The newly formed company, which will include Intership’s sister company Donnelly Tanker Management, will manage a fleet of over 170 vessels including tankers of all types, LPG carriers, bulkers, containers, multipurpose ships and other specialised tonnage.

2. Visa-Free entry to China is good news for Danish Shipping companies. An agreement between Denmark and China on visa-free entry for Danish citizens is now in place. China is the largest market for Danish shipping, so visa-free access is a significant help, making trade and travel activities easier for Danish shipping companies.

3. MOL build logistic center on Kobe’s Port Island. The MOL Group’s management plan “BLUE ACTION 2035” positions the transformation of the group’s business portfolio to ensure profitability even during shipping recessions as a major growth strategy by increasing the weight of non-shipping, stable-profit businesses that offset the volatility of the shipping market. Investment in logistics in the real property business is part of this initiative.

4. BIMCO Shipping Number of the Week. Container ship deliveries hit new record of 2.5 million TE
“Just ten months into 2024, shipyards’ deliveries of container ships have reached a new annual record. A total of 410 ships with a capacity of 2.5m TEU have been delivered, surpassing the previous full year high of 2.3m TEU in 2023,” says Niels Rasmussen, Chief Shipping Analyst at BIMCO.

6. PIL signs for more Hudong-Zhonghua boxships. Singapore’s Pacific International Lines (PIL) has returned to China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding for five LNG dual-fuel containerships.
The company has contracted 9,000 teu vessels bringing its newbuilding campaign since 2022 to 18. In addition to being LNG-powered, the vessels will be able to switch to running on bio-methane, PIL said.

7. MAC Shipping inks first newbuilds. Singapore’s MAC Shipping is expanding its fleet via a debut order for stainless steel chemical tanker newbuilds.The company has tapped China’s Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry for four 25,900 dwt units costing $50m each, according to brokers, with deliveries starting in 2026.
