1. Constellation bags $1bn Petrobras deal for drillship pair. Brazilian offshore driller Constellation Oil Services has secured two drillship contracts from Petrobras worth around $1bn. The contracts that cover mobilisation fees, extension option clause and additional services requested by Petrobras involve the 2012-built Laguna Star and the newbuild Tidal Action formerly known as West Libra. The former was initially ordered by Seadrill at South Korea’s DSME, now Hanwha Ocean, and will be managed by Constellation.

2. Euroseas scores bumper rate on three-year boxship charter. Nasdaq-listed Greek boxship owner Euroseas has landed a three-year charted deal for its 4,250 teu Synergy Busan at $35,500 per day.The Aristides Pittas-led firm with 23 ships on the water and two under construction said the 2009-built ship which is currently earning $25,000 per day should start its new 36-38-month contract in early December this year.

3. Schoeller and Deutsche Offshore Schifffahrt sign for newbuild quartet in China. Schoeller Holdings and Deutsche Offshore Schifffahrt have joined forces in the offshore energy sector with four construction commissioning service operation vessel (C-CSOVs) newbuilds in China.Cyprus-based Schoeller Holdings has ordered the ships from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for delivery starting in early 2027.

4. Russia’s ‘Shadow Fleet’ Offloads Sanctioned LNG at Asian Storage Barge For First Time. The next element of Russia’s emerging LNG shadow fleet has materialized over the weekend. LNG carrier Everest Energy traveled to the Koryak FSU near the southern tip of Kamchatka to transfer super-chilled gas from the sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project. Everest Energy had passed through the Arctic’s icy waters without a valid permit while traveling under a suspended registration by flag state Palau.

7. Container traffic declines across Mediterranean, but Spanish ports buck trend. In 2023, most European ports saw declines in traffic. However, the first half of 2024 showed a turnaround, with seven of the 15 largest ports reporting double-digit growth.
