1. Wärtsilä secures pivotal role in developing Singapore’s next-generation vessel traffic management system. Technology group Wärtsilä has been awarded the prototyping tender for the revolutionary Next Generation Vessel Traffic Management System  project by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore . This initiative is set to transform maritime safety and efficiency at one of the world’s busiest ports. The order was booked by Wärtsilä in Q3 2024.

2. Maritime artificial intelligence market nearly triples in size over past year. New research by British consultancy Thetius estimates that the maritime artificial intelligence (AI) market has nearly tripled in size in the space of just one year and is now valued at $4.13bn, with a projected five-year compound annual growth rate of 23%.

3. Maersk Tankers set to launch chemical tanker pool. Denmark’s Maersk Tankers has revealed that it would be starting up a new chemical tanker pool from the beginning of next month. Maersk Tankers said in a social media post that the new pool, named Maersk Tankers Chemicals, would launch on October 1.

4. Japanese firms to develop next-gen vertical-axis floating wind turbines. The consortium, consisting of Albatross Technology, Electric Power Development, Tokyo Electric Power Company, K-Line, and Sumitomo, will undertake the study as part of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization’s public call for projects to develop next-generation technologies that help promote the adoption of floating offshore wind power.

6. Louisiana Energy Hubs, Crop Exports Disrupted Ahead of Francine. Energy production and agricultural exports out of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico were disrupted, and oil refineries in Louisiana slowed operations ahead of Hurricane Francine’s landfall later on Wednesday, according to official and operator reports.

9. Cyprus Shipping Chamber – At high level meeting in London discussing challenges and ways of strengthening global shipping. The President of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, also under his capacity as Vice-President of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), Mr. Themis Papadopoulos, and General Manager, Mr. Thomas A.
