2. Sovcomflot keeps non-G7 tankers’ share in Russia crude exports above 80%. Russian state carrier Sovcomflot made a strong return to its home turf to transport crude in August, keeping the share of Russia’s shipments outside of the G7 price cap above 80%.
Data from S&P Global Commodities at Sea and Maritime Intelligence Risk Suite showed tankers owned by the company, sanctioned by various Western authorities, loaded 20.9 million barrels of Russian crude last month compared with 12.8 million barrels in July.

4. Grimaldi new connections from China to Nigeria and the Persian Gulf. The Grimaldi Group continues to expand its service offerings from the Far East, particularly from China. In July, for the first time, thousands of new cars from Shanghai were unloaded from the vessel Grande Houston at the port of Tin Can Island (Lagos). This marked the inauguration of the first direct ro-ro service between China and Nigeria. With a monthly frequency and a transit time of 27 days between Shanghai and Lagos, the new connection stands out for its speed and efficiency in the transport of cars and rolling cargo in general.

6. QatarEnergy bumps up orders for massive LNG carriers. Middle Eastern liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer QatarEnergy has signed a contract with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) for the construction of six additional supersize LNG carriers.
The Doha-headquartered state-owned company’s massive shipbuilding program has been bolstered with the so-called QC-Max units with a capacity of 271,000 cu m, bringing the total number of such ships ordered by QatarEnergy to 24 and worth in total about $8bn.

7. Star Bulk offloads oldest ship. Nasdaq-listed Greek dry bulk giant Star Bulk Carriers has revealed the sale of its oldest vessel in the fleet.
The Petros Pappas-led owner and operator has agreed to offload the 2004-built capsize Star Triumph for $20m. The buyer has not been disclosed.

8. Second National Security Multi-Mission Vessel, ‘Patriot State’, Christened at Philly. TOTE Services and Philly Shipyard have christened the second of five National Security Multi-Mission Vessels (NSMVs), named Patriot State.
The christening ceremony took place Monday at Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was attended by high-ranking officials including the Secretary of Transportation and the Secretary of the Navy.

9. ‘Francine’ Strengthens as GoM Oil Producers Evacuate Staff.  U.S. Gulf of Mexico offshore oil and gas producers on Monday were evacuating staff and curbing drilling as Tropical Storm Francine churned through the energy region on a path to bring high winds and drenching rains to the U.S. mid-South.

10. BOEM Finalizes Environmental Assessment for Gulf of Maine Offshore Wind Energy Area. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has completed its final Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Wind Energy Area (WEA) in the U.S. Gulf of Maine, marking a significant step towards offshore wind development in the region.
BOEM found that leasing and site assessment and characterization activities will not have a significant impact on the environment.
