1. Germany picks winners in 5.5GW offshore wind auction. Germany has announced the winners of the offshore wind auction for three centrally pre-investigated project zones.
The auction was for three sites in the North Sea with a planned total output of 5.5GW which had been pre-investigated by the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency.

2. Serica turns to SeaTwirl floating wind tech to electrify offshore oil and gas assets. Floating wind turbine developer SeaTwirl has signed a memorandum of understanding with UK offshore oil and gas operator Serica Energy to explore the feasibility of electrification of offshore assets and oil and gas activities.

3. McDermott clinches new Trinidad deal with Shell. Houston-based subsea and deepwater engineering and construction player McDermott has won an engineering, procurement, construction, installation (EPCI), hookup and commissioning contract for Shell’s Manatee gas field development off the southeast coast of Trinidad and Tobago.

4. Explosion at Ningbo Port Seen Impacting Supply Chains. Container xChange, an online container trading and leasing marketplace, is warning of serious repercussions following the recent explosion aboard the Yang Ming vessel YM Mobility at Ningbo Port, China. The incident, which has led to the closure of one of the world’s busiest container terminals, is expected to significantly impact global supply chains, especially on the main trade lanes out of Asia.

5. Maersk Warns of Potential Supply Chain Disruptions as U.S. Labor Strike Looms. A.P. Moller — Maersk has provided an update on the North American market, highlighting the ongoing labor negotiations between the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) and the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA). The current contract between the two parties is set to expire on September 30, raising concerns among industry stakeholders and shippers about potential disruptions at U.S. Gulf and East Coast ports.

7. U.S. Air Force Conducts Latest QUICKSINK Exercise. The U.S. Air Force has conducted its latest QUICKSINK exercise, successfully demonstrating a low-cost, air-delivered method for neutralizing surface vessels.
Quicksink is designed to rapidly counter maritime threats across large ocean areas globally. The latest exercise took place in the Gulf of Mexico near Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.

8. Thailand Races to Stop Toxic Waste Cargo on Ships. Thai authorities are racing to stop about 100 shipping containers allegedly filled with hazardous industrial waste from Albania reaching the nation’s ports.
Basel Action Network, a US-based nonprofit that tracks toxic trade which previously alerted Malaysia to illegal e-waste shipments, last week informed Thailand that containers the organization believes is filled with potentially harmful electric arc furnace dust were heading its way.

9. Major Containership Fire Averted in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) successfully averted a potential disaster after a fire broke out on a containership berthed at Jaya Container Terminal (JCT) at the Port of Colombo.
The incident occurred while MSC CAPETOWN III was discharging 995 boxes and loading 880 boxes.

10. Argentina Grain Ports Normalizing After Strike Suspension. Grains shipments out of Argentine ports are normalizing after the government ordered workers to suspend a nearly week-long strike earlier on Monday, the head of the nation’s ports chamber said.
The government sent an order to two oilseed workers unions to suspend a strike for 15 days. So far, one union has said it will comply with the order.
