2. Cyprus Government reaches deal with sacked Larnaca port workers The government on Wednesday clinched a deal with Larnaca port and marina workers who were fired by Kition Ocean Holdings. 6. EGPN Bulk Carrier flips a cape China’s EGPN Bulk Carrier has done what it does best: flipping ships quickly. This time it is pocketing around $8m on a bulker transaction sealed six months ago. Towards the end of last year EGPN fattened its cape arm, adding a trio of New Times Shipbuilding-built capes built between 2010 and 2011 from Bocimar, named Mineral Destelbergen, Mineral Temse, and Mineral Brugge, spending just under $60m for the trio.

Prince Rupert seals largest investment to date American company AltaGas and Royal Vopak from The Netherlands are teaming up to build a $1.3bn gas export facility near Prince Rupert in British Columbia. The two companies said they have reached a final investment decision on the Ridley Island Energy Export Facility (REEF), which will be built on Ridley Island near Prince Rupert.

9. New SOLAS Regulations on Reporting Containers Lost at Sea The World Shipping Council (WSC) has praised the approval of the recently adopted amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), requiring mandatory reporting of all containers lost at sea. The amendments were ratified last month by the International Maritime Organization’s Maritime Safety Committee and are set to take effect from January 1, 2026. 10. Adani Ports handles 35.8 MMT of cargo volumes in May’24 
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone said that it has handled approximately 35.8 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo volumes in May 2024, which is almost flat on a year-over-year (YoY) basis.The companys handled cargo volumes in the same period last year were 36 MMT. APSEZ said: Due to shutdown of the Gangavaram Port, APSEZ lost around 6 MMT of cargo volumes in April & May24. However, with the operations now restarted, we are confident of recovering these lost volumes in the coming months.
