1. India signals change through vessel age limits

India is taking further steps to lower the footprint that their Shipping trade leaves. It is understood that a number of measures will be introduced, including the ban of Tankers and Bulkers older than 25 years, and Gas and Container vessels older than 30 years, from making port calls in India. 2. NGO Shipbreaking Platform publishes list of ships dismantled worldwide in 2022

According to new data released today by the NGO Shipbreaking Platform, 443 ocean-going commercial ships and offshore units were sold for scrapping in 2022. 3. LNG bunkering tanker ready to refuel vessels

Hai Yang Shi You 301, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas carrier and bunkering tanker, successfully filled the dual-fuel container ship CMA CGM CONCORDE with 6,000 cubic meters of bonded LNG at Yantian Port in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone earlier this month, indicating the completion of the first bonded LNG refueling operation in the southern Chinese region. https://cyprusshippingnews.com/2023/02/06/lng-bunkering-tanker-ready-to-refuel-vessels/

4. OceanPal secures capesize charter with Koch

Greece’s OceanPal has entered into a time charter contract with Koch Shipping in Singapore for 2005-built capesize bulker Baltimore. The charter is set to commence on February 9 at a rate of $13,300 per day, for a period of five to eight months. The vessels is currently on charter to Enesel Bulk Logistics at $12,900 per day. 5. TGS awarded Gulf of Mexico survey contract

Seismic data provider TGS has signed an LOA to conduct a 4D OBN survey in Walker Ridge canyon in the US Gulf of Mexico.

6. Golar buys out New Fortress stake in Cameroon FLNG unit

Tor Olav Trøim-backed Golar LNG has agreed to take over New Fortress Energy’s ownership stake in the floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility operating offshore Cameroon. Golar is paying $100m in cash for the 2017-converted FLNG Hilli and returning 4.1m shares it holds in Wes Edens’ Nasdaq-listed LNG player.

7. Reach Subsea charters Olympic MPSV for offshore wind contract

Oslo-listed Reach Subsea has chartered in a multipurpose supply vessel (MPSV) from compatriot owner Olympic to cover an upcoming project in the offshore wind sector. 8. Russia products ban starts

Europe imposed a ban Sunday on Russian diesel fuel and other refined oil products, two months after a similar crude oil ban began. The ban comes along with a price cap agreed by the Group of Seven democracies. European Union member states agreed to impose a cap of $100 per barrel on sales of Russian refined fuels as well as a cap of $45 for those that sell at a discount, such as fuel oil and some types of naphtha.

9. Baltic index hits nearly three-year low on weaker vessel demand

The Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, fell to the lowest in nearly three years, pressured by weaker rates across vessel segments.
