1. MSC awarded “Ship of the Year” at Seatrade Maritime Awards International 2020
MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company won the “Ship of the Year” award at the Seatrade Maritime Awards International 2020, which was held on 6 November in Shanghai, China. MSC clinched the award for MSC FEBE, one of the ships from our latest Gülsün-Class of 23,000+ TEU vessels that has been added in 2019-2020 to our global shipping network.

2. Panama Canal issues amendment to tender for new Water Management System
The Panama Canal amended the prequalification document for a tender for the engineering, design, and construction of an optimized water management system. The decision comes after receiving more than 250 potential bidder inquiries following the opening of the prequalification period on September 7.

3. ESPO publishes the 2020 Environmental Report for the European port sector
This morning, the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) presented its fifth annual Environmental Report during a dedicated Webinar. The ESPO Environmental Report 2020 includes more than 60 different environmental performance benchmarks, such as the Top 10 Environmental Priorities of the European ports, and figures on the green services to shipping (shore-side electricity, LNG and environmentally differentiated port dues).

4. Petrobras creates Climate Change Executive Management
The Board of Directors of Petrobras approved the creation of the Climate Change Executive Management, which will be responsible for leading the company’s actions in carbon management, reduction of air emissions , energy efficiency and climate change.

5. Shearwater GeoServices awarded survey contract by Total
Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded a major towed streamer 3D acquisition and fast track processing project by Total. The exploration survey covers 5,000 sq km in the UDO Block Exploration area, offshore Senegal. The data acquisition will be carried out by the research vessel SW Empress.

9. Baltic Index Eases On Lower Rates For Capesize, Panamax Vessels
The Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index, which tracks rates for capesize, panamax and supramax vessels, edged lower on Tuesday due to weaker rates across all vessel segments. The Baltic dry index was down 7 points, or 0.6%, at 1,200.

10. Cochin Port Trust Invites EoI To Develop North Coal Berth
Sailing in line with the Centre’s policy based on landlord development model, the Cochin Port Trust has invited expressions of interest from investors for the development of a port-based project in its North Coal Berth.
