1. IMO and Republic of Korea partner to address ships’ GHG emissions
The Republic of Korea and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) have signed an agreement to establish a training programme to support developing States to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from shipping. 2. IMEC and ITF opens big quarantine and testing facility in Manila

3. SCF time charters three icebreaking LNG carriers to the Arctic LNG 2 project
On 28 October 2020, SCF Group (SCF) and Arctic LNG 2, the operator of the Arctic LNG 2 project, concluded 30-year time charter agreements for three new icebreaking LNG carriers (cargo capacity of 172,410 cbm, ice class Arc7). 5. Cargill backs wind propulsion technology
Commodity trader Cargill and BAR Technologies have embarked on a strategic project with naval architect Deltamarine to promote wind prosultion technology to commercial shipping. 6. Maersk Launceston master charged over collision with Greek minesweeper off Piraeus
Germany’s Essberger, the owners of 4,533 teu Maersk Launceston, has revealed that the master of the boxship has been charged in relation to Tuesday’s collision with a Greek navy minesweeper off Piraeus.

9. Inland Waterways Authority To Launch New Ro-Ro Services In Kochi From Nov 1
The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) is all set to launch two new roll-on/ roll-off (Ro-Ro) services between Willingdon Island and Bolgatty on November 1. Kerala State Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC) will manage the service for the movement of container-laden vehicles.

10. Hapag-Lloyd Raises Container Rates On East Asia-South America East Coast Route
German carrier Hapag-Lloyd said Oct. 28 that it increased container rates on the East Asia to South America East Coast route by $300 per unit, effective Nov. 8. Currently, the average rate on the route is $4,200 per twenty-foot-equivalent unit and $4,600 per forty-foot-equivalent unit.
