InterManager one-day conference set to consider environmental measures
Sulphur regulations, ballast water management and environmental regulation will come under the spotlight during a one-day conference being held by InterManager, in association with the Ballastwater Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (BEMA),and IMarEST Cyprus Branch, in Limassol, Cyprus, on March 13.
‘Scrubbers and Ballast Water Systems’ is aimed at superintendents and ship managers who want to understand how the latest technical and environmental changes will affect the operation of their vessels and who wish to put in place procedures and practices to ensure they meet modern shipping requirements.
Considerations such as the effect of new legislation on Port State Control, vetting procedures, Flag inspections and onboard maintenance regimes will be discussed as well as the effects of the installation and maintenance of scrubbers and ballast water management systems on crewing operations and training.
Captain Kuba Szymanski, InterManager Secretary General, said: “We have put together this one-day conference in response to industry feedback. We believe the event will be of great benefit to a range of shipping personnel including marine, HSEQ and technical superintendents, training officers, personnel officers, purchasers, ship owners and managers.”
The Scrubbers and Ballast Water Systems conference will take place on March 13 at the Columbia Plaza hotel in Limassol, Cyprus from 9am to 5.30pm. 23 March to Sunday 31 March 2019 – EMCS are now taking reservations for the next Ship Superintendents’ Training Programme, running from Saturday 23 March to Sunday 31 March 2019.
The course is endorsed by DNV-GL, IMarEST, University College, the Isle of Man Ship Registry, InterManager and EMCS International.
Originally designed for newly appointed recruits to the position of Superintendent and seagoing Engineers and Deck Officers coming ashore, the training has evolved to provide an excellent foundation in all aspects of maritime operations. The programme welcomes delegates from all over the world from a variety of roles and maritime sectors including commercial shipping, yacht management, ship repair etc, to gain an oversight and understanding of roles and responsibilities to facilitate good working relationships.
The major asset of the programme is the vast wealth of experience from a professional team of lecturers, having accumulated between them over 250 years’ experience in every aspect of the Shipping Industry. Many employers have realised the fundamental benefits of an exceptionally intensive nine consecutive day programme, encompassing two weekends, to the point that the programme is now compulsory for their new superintendents (and often employees holding a variety of other positions within their organisation).
The cost of the 9 day programme is £3,000. If you would like any further information or to make a reservation then please do not hesitate to contact us, or visit http://www.emcs.co.im/superintendents-course/
