Sunday 15th May saw the IMO’s Annual Golf Meeting which has been held at Selsdon Park Hotel and Golf Club since its inauguration in 2006. InterManager’s Accredited Representative to the IMO, Paddy McKnight who organised and hosted the competition in association with CLIA, Cruise Lines International gives his anecdote of the days golfing.
45 golfers, including Joe Angelo of INTERTANKO, Arsenio Dominguez of Panama, Lim Ki-Tack the Secretary General of IMO and Jeff Lantz of the US Coast Guard, took part in nine flights of four-balls and three flights of three-balls, where the weather behaved itself with a slight chill from the northerly wind making for perfect conditions.
The handicaps were calculated using the famous ‘Japanese Double Perrier System’, selected from 12 random holes, thus introducing a little bit of luck into the equation.
After an exciting day on the course, Ivalyo Valev, Head, CIS and Eastern Europe region for the IMO, was crowned the winner and clutched his hard-earned trophy awarded to him by the IMO Secretary General.
