Dispatches No. 291

This week’s Crew Connect Conference gathered 150 participants. Discussions focused on Competencies of Seafarers, Training of Shipping Industry Young Talents, Coping with Fatigue, dealing with different interpretations of STCW and MLC – especially by Port State Control Inspectors and Vetting organisations.
Connectivity, communication and culture differences were also hotly debated.

Interesting polls among participants showed for example that 46% of the industry expects individual seafarer to pay for her/his training.
