Leadership Change At BSM

Rajaish Bajpaee will hand over CEO responsibility of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) to his current deputy, Capt. Norbert Aschmann, through planned succession at the end of December 2014 after more than 27 years of loyal service to the Schulte Group.

He will then take up the position of Chairman in a non-executive capacity, with effect from January 1st 2015, where he will support the continued success of BSM.

Announcing this important news, Mr Bajpaee said: “Having worked in the industry for over 40 years and seen first-hand the evolution of third party shipmanagement from a fledgling business into the professional, highly respected industry that it is today, it is the appropriate time for me to take on a supporting role. Based on the solid foundation that has been established, Norbert will further grow and expand the extensive portfolio of BSM services available to meet customers’ needs through a value-added and solution centric approach.

“Norbert has progressive thinking with a keen eye on the future and a track record of effective leadership. Coming from a seafaring background, he brings a rich experience of third party shipmanagement with a ship owning perspective at senior management level. I am confident that he will be able to take BSM to new heights with sustained growth and excellence in the long-term.”

Capt. Aschmann said: “I am delighted to be taking over as CEO and would like to thank Rajaish for his support since I joined as Deputy CEO in October 2013. I firmly believe that our knowledge, experience and large pool of professional and committed personnel both ashore and on-board BSM managed vessels provides many opportunities for future success.

“I am looking forward to leading the next phase of BSM’s growth and development, with an emphasis on quality, operational effectiveness and teamwork to ensure we remain our customers’ partner of choice.”

Rajaish Bajpaee joined the Eurasia Group of Companies in 1987, commencing as Deputy General Manager before being promoted to the position of President & CEO. He took over as Deputy CEO of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement in 2008 as the company was formed following integration of the Schulte Group companies Dorchester Atlantic Marine, Eurasia, Hanseatic Shipping and VBSK. He became CEO at the beginning of 2011.

Norbert Aschmann is currently deputy CEO of BSM and has held senior management positions at Hanseatic Shipping and E.R. Schiffahrt. Prior to his 20 years’ experience ashore, he served at sea for almost a decade reaching the rank of Master on container vessels.
