Kindly be informed that on 30 April 2012, the President of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Benigno Aquino III signed Executive Order No. 75 creating a single Central Maritime Administration under the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).
The operational functions of this Central Maritime Authority will be delegated to the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) which will create an office specifically tasked to take on the responsibility for the implementation of STCW conventions.
As a result of the said EO, the country can hopefully proceed to effectively and decisively ensure full compliance with the provisions of STCW.
